ASTM A-53 - NBR 5590 pipes for conduction of liquids, gases, vapors, compressed air, etc.
Applications
These tubes are used to transport liquids, gases, vapors, compressed air, etc. and are supplied in diameters from 17.2 mm (3/8") to 660.4 mm (26") and in walls from 2.31 to 6.02 mm, as shown in Table 1. These tubes are manufactured in Grades A and B.
Grade A tubes are suitable for welding and bending operations.
Dimensions and Weights
Dimensions for outside diameters and walls are given in the table on page XX. The normal manufacturing length is 6.000 mm with a tolerance of plus /- 120 mm, admitting a maximum of 10 percent of shorter tubes.
On request, the tubes can be supplied in any fixed length up to 20 meters.

External diameter
Up to 48.3mm (1.1/2")=plus 0,4 - 0,79mm.
60.3 mm (2") and greater=plus /- 1 percent .
wall thickness
Minimum thickness=Nominal thickness - 12,5 percent .
Refinement
Area
The surface is generally black or pickled and may be galvanized. Upon request, tubes from nominal size 3/4" can be supplied with the internal burr removed.
ends
Tubes are supplied with plain (burr free) or beveled ends.
Test
All pipes are hydrostatically tested at the pressures indicated in the table on page XX, for a minimum time of 5 seconds.
Inspection and Certificate
The tubes are supplied with Test Certificates for mechanical properties, crushing tests, hydrostatic tests and chemical analysis.
