1. Ferrous metals, steel and non-ferrous metals
Before introducing the classification of steel, let us briefly introduce the basic concepts of ferrous metals, steel and non-ferrous metals.
1. Ferrous metal refers to iron and iron alloys. Such as steel, pig iron alloy, cast iron, etc. Steel and pig iron are iron-based alloys with carbon as the main added element, collectively known as iron-carbon alloys. Pig iron refers to the product of iron ore smelted in a blast furnace, mainly used to make steel and make castings. Molten pig iron is melted in an iron melting furnace, that is, cast iron (liquid) is obtained, and liquid cast iron is melted into castings, which are called cast iron parts.
Ferroalloy is an alloy composed of iron and silicon, manganese, chromium, titanium and other elements, ferroalloy is one of the raw materials of steel manufacturing, in steel manufacturing as a steel deoxidizer and alloying element additives.
2. Put the pig iron for steel making into the steel furnace and melt it according to a certain process, that is, steel is obtained. Steel products include steel ingots, continuous casting billets and direct casting of various steel castings. Generally referred to as steel, it generally refers to steel rolled into various steels. Steel is a ferrous metal, but steel is not exactly the same as ferrous metal.
3. Non-ferrous metals, also known as non-ferrous metals, refer to metals and alloys other than ferrous metals, such as copper, tin, lead, zinc, aluminum, brass, bronze, aluminum alloys and bearing alloys. Additionally, chromium, nickel, manganese, molybdenum, cobalt, vanadium, tungsten, titanium, etc. are also used in industry, these metals are mainly used as alloy additives to improve the performance of metals, of which tungsten, titanium, molybdenum and other tungsten, titanium, molybdenum and other cemented carbides for tool production. These non-ferrous metals are called industrial metals, as well as precious metals: platinum, gold, silver and other rare metals, including radioactive uranium, radium, etc.
