Market Analysis and Price Trends (2025)
Global demand continues to grow, driven by the construction and consumer goods industries, particularly in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. Due to its lower nickel content, 201 J5 stainless steel is less affected by nickel market fluctuations, making it a stable and affordable option.
201 J5 stainless steel sheet price:
USD $1,000 – $1,250 per ton (depending on thickness & finish)
Cold-rolled 2B / BA finish:
USD $1,150 – $1,350 per ton
Mirror 8K / Colored / Etched:
USD $1,350 – $1,650 per ton
What is the difference between 201 and 201 J5 stainless steel?
There is no fundamental difference between 201 stainless steel and 201 J5 stainless steel. J5 refers to a domestic grade classification of 201 stainless steel. Both are 201 stainless steel, but J5 is a subdivision of 201 stainless steel in China based on differences in its chemical composition (mainly carbon and copper content). Compared to other J-series stainless steels, 201 J5 has a higher carbon content and a lower copper content, resulting in higher hardness, lower toughness, and greater difficulty in processing, but at a lower price.
