ASTM A240 310S Stainless Steel Hot-Rolled Plate

Apr 23, 2026

GNEE can supply 310S stainless steel hot-rolled medium and heavy plates in accordance with ASTM A240/A240M standards (as well as equivalent standards such as ASME SA-240, UNS S31008, and EN 1.4845). These plates are specifically designed for long-term service under extreme conditions below 1050°C, where they are exposed to high-temperature oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation. They are a reliable base material for manufacturing industrial furnace shells, radiant tubes, reformer tubes, high-temperature kiln fixtures, and heat treatment baskets.

We provide plates in hot-rolled, solution annealed, and pickled conditions. The standard thickness range is from 6 mm to 100 mm, with widths up to 2000 mm, and lengths customizable according to customer requirements. Value-added services such as flame cutting and plasma cutting are also available.

Our ASTM A240 310S stainless steel hot-rolled plates offer excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance. In continuous service environments at 1100°C, their oxidation resistance is significantly superior to that of 304H and 321H, effectively preventing premature spalling of oxide scale. At 1000°C, the material still maintains a high-temperature creep rupture strength of ≥30 MPa, demonstrating outstanding resistance to creep and carburization.

We ensure that the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and inspection results (including optional ultrasonic testing, UT) of each batch comply with the relevant standards. All materials are supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.

310 vs.310s ss vs 310h ss

310, 310S, and 310H are all heat-resistant austenitic stainless steels containing 25% chromium and 20% nickel, specifically designed for applications in high-temperature environments. The primary distinction among them lies in their carbon content: 310S is a low-carbon variant (< 0.08%) engineered to provide superior corrosion resistance; 310H is a high-carbon variant (0.04%–0.10%) designed to offer exceptional creep strength; while the standard 310 grade features a relatively higher carbon content range (up to 0.25%).

Inspection & Testing:

The following core tests are typically required: Chemical composition analysis.

Ultrasonic testing (UT): For extra-thick plates or pressure vessel plates, compliance with ASTM A435 or A578 standards is usually required.
Metallographic/Corrosion testing (optional): Intergranular corrosion testing (ASTM A262 Practice A/E).

Inspection & Testing

Packaging:

Reinforcement:High-strength steel strapping is used for transverse and longitudinal binding to prevent unpacking during transport.

Corner protection: Metal corner protectors are added to the contact edges of the strapping to prevent the steel straps from damaging the edges of the plates.

Marking: Each plate is marked with: Grade (310S), Applicable Standard (ASTM A240), Heat No., Dimensions, and Manufacturer's Name.
