Alloy 310S is a general purpose austenitic stainless steel with a face-centered cubic structure. It is essentially non-magnetic in the annealed state and can only be cold hardened. Its low carbon content compared to alloy 302 provides better resistance to corrosion in welded structures.
Alloy 310 (UNS S31000) stainless steel is a variation of Austenitic Alloy 304 with 18% chromium and 8% nickel, in which the carbon content is controlled within a range of 0.04 to 0.10 to provide greater high temperature resistance to parts exposed to temperatures above € 800 F. This alloy can be considered for a wide variety of applications and exhibits an excellent combination of corrosion resistance and machinability.
