904L grade 904L stainless steel envelops 10-900MM dimensions with excellent formability
904L grade stainless steels have excellent attack resistance from hot seawater and chloride. The high resistance of the 904L grade against stress corrosion cracking is due to the presence of high amounts of nickel in its composition. In addition, the addition of copper to these grades develops resistance to sulfuric acid and other reducing agents in both aggressive and mild conditions.
904L grade corrosion resistance is intermediate between super austenitic grades, with 6% molybdenum content, and standard austenitic grades 316L. Grade 904L is less resistant to nitric acid than grades 304L and 310L, which do not contain molybdenum. This grade of steel should be treated with solution after cold work, to achieve maximum resistance to stress corrosion cracking in critical environments.
