The ASTM A312 specification covers both welded and seamless stainless steel pipes. ASTM A312 TP316L seamless pipe is manufactured from hollow semi‑finished billets, then formed by hot rolling or cold drawing. Our factory uses cold rolling and cold drawing processes to produce seamless pipes.

ASTM A312 TP316L welded pipe is generally made using ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) or EFW (Electric Fusion Welding) methods, starting from steel plate without the addition of filler metal. It is normally joined by a single longitudinal weld; for large‑diameter pipes, double longitudinal welds are also permitted.

The minimum solution‑annealing temperature for ASTM A312 TP316L cold‑rolled pipe is 1040 °C, followed by rapid cooling. This grade cannot be hardened by annealing. Both seamless and welded stainless pipes must undergo heat treatment in accordance with the requirements of the ASTM A312 specification.

We can provide small‑diameter, thin‑wall, and thick‑wall pipes as required. Pipe dimensions conform to the ANSI B36.19 standard, with outside diameter ranging from NPS 1/8 inch to 30 inches (equivalent to 10.3 mm to 762 mm, or DN 6 to DN 750), and wall thickness ranging from Schedule 5S to 80S.

Testing and Inspection

ASTM A312 TP316L pipe dimensional tolerance should be confirmed to above table, tight tolerance is often offered doe special requirement, mechanical tests should be performed in accordance with ASTM A312, flare for seamless pipes, flange and reverse flatten for welded pipes. In many cases, Hydrostatic pressure test is performed to ensure quality pipes.
