S420N belongs to high strength low alloy plate, high strength alloy steel weldable low carbon engineering structural steel. Its carbon content is generally less than 0.25, than ordinary carbon structural steel has higher yield point or yield point and yield strength, better hot and cold machining formability, good weldability, lower tendency to brittleness cold, notch and aging sensitivity, as well as better corrosion resistance from the atmosphere, seawater and other corrosion resistance. Its alloying element content is low, generally less than 2.5, in the hot-rolled state or after simple heat treatment (non-hardened state) used.
