What is SA 240 uns S32205 material?
ASME SA 240 is the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standard specification for chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and general applications. "UNS S32205" is the Unified Numbering System designation for this alloy. What's the difference between ASME SA 240 S32205 hot-rolled and cold-rolled plate?
The primary difference is that ASME SA 240 S32205 hot-rolled plate is processed at high temperatures, resulting in high toughness and resistance to reshaping at room temperature; whereas A240 UNS S32205 cold-rolled plate can be reshaped. Neither material can be annealed after production through any heat treatment, but duplex stainless steel ASTM A 240 S32205 cold-rolled plate can be strengthened through welding and cold-working.
