If you're looking for durable and corrosion-resistant steel sheets for industrial applications, manufacturing, or construction, AISI 420 stainless steel is widely used in numerous industries, including automotive, medical, and food processing.
what is AISI 420 stainless steel sheet?
AISI 420 stainless steel sheet is a hardenable, martensitic stainless steel containing at least 12% chromium, designed for high strength, hardness, and wear resistance. Known as a "surgical steel," it is often used for cutlery, dental/surgical instruments, pump shafts, and plastic molds due to its ability to be polished to a mirror finish and resist mild corrosion.
GNEE supplies AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel plates, manufactured in compliance with ASTM A240 / AMS 5506 standards. Combining high hardness, excellent wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance, this material is widely utilized in tooling and mold manufacturing, general machinery production, and food-contact applications.
In the annealed condition, the material exhibits a tensile strength of ≥790 MPa, a yield strength of ≥500 MPa, and an elongation of ≥15%. Following quenching and tempering treatments, its hardness can reach HRC 50–55, making it an ideal choice for manufacturing components that require high wear resistance and superior edge retention.
The AISI 420 stainless steel plates offered by GNEE are available in specifications covering thicknesses of 0.4–6.0 mm, widths of 1000–1300 mm, and lengths of 2000–3000 mm. Surface finish options include 2B, No. 4 (brushed), matte, and polished finishes. This material features excellent machinability, weldability, and polishability, and supports various processing techniques such as shearing, laser cutting, bending, and heat treatment.

Every product batch undergoes rigorous testing for hardness, flatness, chemical composition, and mechanical properties, and is accompanied by a comprehensive Mill Test Certificate (MTC).

AISI 420 stainless steel sheet Chemical Composition (%)
The carbon content in AISI 420 is higher than AISI 410, which allows for increased hardness after heat treatment.
