What is Zeron 100 equivalent to?
Zeron 100 is equivalent to the super duplex stainless steel grade UNS S32760, which is also known as Werkstoff Nr. 1.4501 or ASTM F55. It can also replace other materials like 316L and 2205 stainless steels, and high-nickel alloys such as 625 and 904L. It is comparable to other super duplex grades like 2507, but has the added benefit of copper and tungsten for improved resistance to certain acids.

 

What is equivalent to 2507 material?

Material 2507 is a super duplex stainless steel with UNS S32750 being its most common designation, and it is also known by other names like SAF 2507 or EN 1.4410. Other equivalent designations include the French standard AF 2507, the Japanese standard JIS SUS 329 J4L, and the Chinese standard GB 022Cr25Ni7Mo4N.

Zeron 100 vs. 2507 Duplex Steel: Corrosion Resistance
Zeron 100 offers superior corrosion resistance in mineral acids and is more effective at repassivating from crevice corrosion compared to 2507 Duplex Steel, thanks to its additions of copper and tungsten. While both are strong super duplex stainless steels, Zeron 100 has a guaranteed minimum PREN value of 40, ensuring higher resistance to localized corrosion like pitting and crevice attack, and shows better performance in certain high-temperature, chloride-containing environments.


Zeron 100 vs. 2507 Duplex Steel: Repassivation
ZERON 100 shows superior repassivation behavior compared to 2507, making it a better choice for applications where temperature excursions might initiate crevice corrosion, such as in seawater. This is due to ZERON 100's addition of tungsten and copper, which improves corrosion resistance and helps the protective passive layer reform more quickly once normal operating temperatures are restored.

 

Zeron 100 vs. 2507 Duplex Steel: Strength
Zeron 100 and 2507 Duplex Steel have similar high strength, but Zeron 100's maximum allowable stresses can be slightly higher according to some ASME code interpretations. Zeron 100 has a minimum ultimate tensile strength of 109 ksi (751 MPa) and a minimum 0.2% yield strength of 80 ksi (552 MPa), while 2507 has a minimum ultimate tensile strength of 116 ksi and a minimum 0.2% yield strength of 80 ksi.
