What material is equivalent to 1.4006?
Grade 410 / 1.4006 is a hardenable martensitic stainless steel. Alloy designations of 1.4006 are similar, but may not be considered as a direct equivalent to: 410S, UNS S41000, and 410S21. This grade of steel is supplied in the form of bar.
What is AlSI 410 round bar?
ASTM A276 AlSI 410 round bar is a martensitic stainless steel that is hardenable after heat treatment. This steel grade is designated 1.4006 or X12Cr13 in EN standards and UNSS41000 in UNS standards. AlSI 410 (UNSS41000) steel can withstand thermal stress. AlSI 410 (1.4006) is a magnetic material and is commonly used in turbine components, the petrochemical industry, valve components, and nuts and bolts.

| Tighter carbon ranges may be agreed at the time of enquery and order Particular ranges of sulphur content may provide improvement of particular properties. For machinability a controlled sulphur content of 0.015 % to 0.030% is recommended and permitted. For weldability, a controlled sulphur content of 0.008 % to 0.030 % is recommended and permitted. For polishability, a controlled sulphur content of 0.015 % max is recommended. Elements not listed in this table shall not be intentionally added to the steel without the agreement of the purchaser except for finishing the cast. |

Heat treatment - processes, cooling and temperatures
Softening annealing in the 750 - 800 ℃ temperature range with cooling in a furnace
Hardening at 950 - 1050℃ with oil or air cooling
Tempering at 700 - 790℃ with water, oil, or air cooling
Corrosion Resistance of Alsl 410 :
SS410 resists dry atmosphere, fresh water, mild alkalies and acids, food, steam and hot gases. it must be hardened for maximumheat and coosion resistance. Perfommance is best with a smooth surface finish. This grade has less coosion resistance than theaustenitic grades and also, less than 17% chromium ferritic alloys such as Grade 430.
Heat Resistance of Alsl 410 :
Good resistance to scaling up to approximately 650'c, but generally not recommended for use in temperatures between 400 and580'C,because of the reduction in mechanical properties.
Applications of ss 410 :
Applications requiring moderate corrosion resistance and high mechanical properties are ideal for Alloy 410. Bolts. nuts, screwsbushings. Pump and valve parts and shafts. Steam and gas turbine parts. Petroleum fractionating towers. Mine ladder rungs
