EN 1.4901 Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger Tubes

Apr 17, 2026

Are you searching for high-performance stainless steel heat exchanger tubes capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and harsh operating conditions? GNEE is a trusted global supplier with over 18 years of experience in providing top-tier stainless steel products. Our clientele spans more than 50 countries, and our annual export volume exceeds 5,000 tons. We hold numerous certifications-including ISO 9001 and PED-and strictly adhere to industry standards, ensuring the highest quality and reliability for heat exchanger applications.

Our EN 1.4901 stainless steel heat exchanger tubes are specifically engineered for high-temperature, high-stress environments. Produced in strict compliance with EN 10216-5 and EN 10297-2 standards, these tubes exhibit exceptional thermal stability; at 650°C, their creep rupture strength after 10,000 hours is ≥48 MPa far exceeding the performance of standard 1.4903 and 310S grades.

EN 1.4901 stainless steel seamless tubes undergo a specialized normalizing-plus-tempering heat treatment process. Through precise control of the normalizing temperature (980–1020°C) and tempering temperature (730–780°C), we achieve a 25–30% grain refinement. This process boosts tensile strength to 620–850 MPa, yield strength to >450 MPa, and elongation to >20%. This treatment effectively eliminates internal stresses, prevents high-temperature deformation, and ensures long-term structural integrity under cyclic thermal loads.

We offer EN 1.4901 seamless tubes produced via both cold-drawn and hot-rolled processes. Our product range covers outer diameters from 6 mm to 76 mm, with wall thicknesses ranging from 1.0 mm to 8.0 mm. Standard lengths include 6 m, 9 m, and 12 m; additionally, we provide customized cutting and chamfering services tailored to specific client requirements.

Mechanical Properties (at Room Temperature)

EN 1.4901 tubes are typically supplied in the Normalized and Tempered (N+T) condition to ensure a stable martensitic structure.

Property Value (Minimum)
Tensile Strength (Rm) 640 – 820 MPa
Yield Strength (ReH) ≥ 450 MPa
Elongation (A5) ≥ 17% (Longitudinal)
Impact Energy (KV2) ≥ 40 J (at +20°C)
Hardness (Brinell) 190 – 250 HBW

High-Temperature Creep Rupture Strength (Reference)

The primary advantage of EN 1.4901 is its performance under stress at elevated temperatures.

Temperature (°C) Estimated 100,000h Creep Rupture Strength (MPa)
550°C ~ 160 – 180
600°C ~ 100 – 120
620°C ~ 80 – 95

EN 1.4901 stainless steel pipe vs. P91 pipe

EN 1.4901 (also known as X10CrWMoVNb9-2 or Grade 92) and P91 (ASTM A335 Grade P91) are both high-performance, creep-resistant steel pipes designed for extreme high-temperature and high-pressure environments, such as power plant boilers and steam lines. EN 1.4901 is an improved version of P91, offering superior strength and higher temperature resistance due to the addition of tungsten.

NDT – Non-Destructive Testing

Eddy Current Testing (ET) & Ultrasonic Testing (UT): 100% full-length inspection of the tube was performed.
Hydrostatic Test: Confirmed absence of leaks at the design pressure.
Grain Size Testing: Fine grain size contributes to enhanced material fatigue strength and corrosion resistance.
