ASME SB-677 is a material specification for seamless and welded pipe made from high-nickel-chromium stainless steel alloys, such as UNS N08904 (904L), UNS N08925, and UNS N08926. These alloys are suitable for use in generally corrosive environments.
ASME SB 677 UNS N08904 seamless pipe is suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure applications. These high-strength pipes feature a weldless design and are produced using an extrusion process. They offer a 20% increase in load-bearing capacity compared to SS 904L welded pipe. Furthermore, welded pipe is more affordable and requires less processing time. These pipes are manufactured by welding together sheet or strip using standard welding processes. 1.4539 grade stainless steel welded pipe may be lower in strength but can be manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes.
