In addition, the 347H Alloy offers greater resistance to lateral elongation, breakout tension, and stress at high temperatures than conventional stainless steels. It is a low carbon steel or "L" grade that provides resistance to sensitization during welding and other thermal processes. This combination of properties is the reason for the widespread use of these alloys that account for nearly half of total U.S. stainless steel production.
