Alloy 310 (UNS S31000) stainless steel is a variation of Austenitic Alloy 304 with 18% chromium and 8% nickel, in which the carbon content is controlled within a range of 0.04 to 0.10 to provide greater high temperature resistance to parts exposed to temperatures above € 800 F. This alloy can be considered for a wide variety of applications and exhibits an excellent combination of corrosion resistance and machinability. Each alloy represents an excellent combination of corrosion resistance and fabricability. This combination of properties is the reason for the widespread use of these alloys, which account for nearly half of total US stainless steel production.
