What is ASTM A269?

Pipes specified in ASTM A269 can be produced by seamless or welded methods. Common surface treatments include annealing, pickling, or bright annealing. SS304 and SS316 are the two most commonly used stainless steel grades in piping systems. They offer excellent corrosion resistance, easy cleaning, low maintenance cost, and affordable price.

ASTM A269 TP316L bright annealed seamless pipe is a highly corrosion-resistant austenitic stainless steel pipe with a bright annealed surface finish (Ra ≤ 0.4μm), which improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments such as seawater. With a tensile strength of 485-690MPa and a yield strength of ≥170MPa, it is designed for critical components in marine applications, such as heat exchangers, condensers, and piping systems, which require excellent durability and leak-free performance during long-term exposure to saltwater.

What is the difference between A269 and A213 tubing?

ASTM A269 is the standard specification for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubing for general service. While for ASTM A213, it is a standard specification for seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy-steel boiler, super heater and heat-exchanger tubes.
