Comparison of ASTM A249 TP304L and TP304
TP304L has a lower carbon content (≤0.03%) than TP304 (≤0.08%), resulting in better corrosion resistance under weld conditions. TP304L exhibits stronger resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding, making it suitable for applications requiring welding or exposure to corrosive media. Due to its higher carbon content, TP304 has slightly higher tensile strength and yield strength than TP304L.
