Alloy 321 (UNS s32100) is a titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance in general. It has excellent intergranular corrosion resistance after exposure to a chromium carbide precipitation temperature of 800 - 1500oF (427 - 816oC). The oxidation resistance of the alloy reaches 1500oF (816oC), and has a higher creep resistance and fatigue resistance than 304 and 304l alloys, and good resistance to low temperature.
Alloy 321h (UNS 32109) is a high carbon emission version (0.04 - 0.10) of the alloy. It was developed to improve creep resistance and higher resistance to temperatures above 1000of (537oC). In most cases, the carbon content of the board can achieve double certification.
Alloy 321 cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but by cold work. It can be easily welded and machined in standard workshop manufacturing practice.
