ASTM A240 UNS31803 Hot Rolled Steel Plate

ASTM A240 UNS S31803 is a commonly used duplex stainless steel (Type 2205) for manufacturing steel plates. It combines the unique properties of both austenitic (such as 304) and ferritic (such as 430) stainless steels, offering high strength, excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. It is widely used in demanding industries such as chemical, oil and gas, and marine applications, for equipment such as pressure vessels and heat exchangers, and is available with a hot-rolled (HR) surface finish.

UNS S31803 hot-rolled plates can have their strength increased through heat treatment, making them stronger, but with a less refined surface finish. On the other hand, UNS S31803 cold-rolled plates achieve higher strength through cold working and have a smoother surface. Due to its smooth surface, this material is suitable for external components in various applications.

Our UNS S31803 duplex stainless steel plates have twice the strength of standard 316 stainless steel plates and perform exceptionally well in temperatures ranging from -50°F to 600°F. They are annealed at a minimum temperature of 1900°F and are commonly used in chemical equipment, distillation components, oil and gas exploration, and high-chloride marine environments.
