It is a material with great resistance to corrosion but with a lower endurance against salt chloride. The composition is as follows: 0.08% carbon, 2% manganese, 0.045% phosphorus, 0.030% sulfide, 1% silicon, 18-20% chromium, 8-10.50% nickel and the remaining percentage of iron.
The INOX 304 is the most common, it is the one we usually find in almost any product. And it has an optimal performance in environments that are very hostile to us, where too aggressive environmental or cleaning agents do not come into play.
The material used is an austenitic stainless steel AISI 304, manufactured by the Arcelor Mittal Inox Group of Brazil and delivered in the form of plates (300 mm x 210 mm x 0.5 mm), cold rolled. 8 specimens were prepared for uniaxial tensile tests under the ASTM E8 Standard, 4 cut in the rolling direction (0º) and 4 cut in the perpendicular direction (90º). Figure 1 shows a photograph of the specimen, indicating its specific dimensions. A specimen of each type (0º and 90º) was tested to breakage to find its mechanical properties.
