Stainless Steel AISI 410
The 410 is the basic martensitic stainless steel, for general use, that can harden. It is used for parts subjected to high stress with good corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. Stainless 410 resists corrosion in slightly corrosive atmospheres, steam, and in many mild chemical environments. This steel can be heat-treated to obtain high strength with good ductility. The 410S variant (UNS S41008) has limited carbon content to prevent hardening and breakage when welded or exposed to high temperatures.
Weldability and machinability can be classified as "good". 410 stainless steel can be welded using all common methods and is only slightly susceptible to fragility.
