Wire drawing is a finishing process applied to metal bars, in round, square, six-sided formats, etc., to reduce their microscopic imperfections on the surface and their dimensions, for more precise measurements. Through this process it is possible to produce thinner bars, cold bars, bars and other types of profiles with smaller transverse sections. But the drawn bars do not have an advantage only in their new form, and drawing itself can result in differentiated products, thus being able to confer new uses for the metal.
DRAWN BARS - PROCESS
During the drawing process, the metal is extruded for a matrix of smaller size. This tração results in not gaining some properties for the product obtained. Drawn bars can have higher hardness, higher tolerances and also better finishing. These new properties make drawn bars or ideal material to be used in the manufacture of various pieces of equipment, including screws, bolts, mills, threaded bars and many others.
Most metal bars can be turned into drawn bars. Specifically between the years, any of them can go through this process, so the way of drawing needs to be differentiated. One of these shapes is cold drawn, which gives a better finish.
However, in addition to these forms of drawing, to transform certain metals into drawn bars, it is possible to use other processes such as bars that are drawn with cold-machine. All these possibilities turn drawn bars into extremely versatile materials, being able to meet the varied needs of resistance or other properties.
It is common to obtain drawn bars with sections of rounded shapes, but through the drawing process it is possible to produce materials with varied profiles such as square, six-sided and many others. However, for the drawn bars to offer good performance, it is necessary that the material used in its composition be of quality in the drawing process itself, be carried out properly.
