GENERAL
The Gnee 2714 main characteristic steel has a high impact on the recommended hardness range. In most cases it is already provided in the tempered and tempered state, which does not require further heat treatment. In this case, the hardness can be adapted to the needs of the customer.

Supply conditions – Supplied in annealed state with a maximum hardness of 240 HB. Provided in the temperate and tempered state with a hardness between 35-43 HRC.
APPLICATIONS
It is used for hot work tools, especially for dies designed for hammer-type forging presses and peripheral components. It is also used in the matrices of containment ring assemblies for the extrusion of aluminum alloys and other matrices to work non-ferrous alloys, such as gravity casting.
HEAT TREATMENT
Stress relief: In tools of complex shapes, with the removal of heterogeneous material in roughing, sudden changes in sections, etc., stress relief treatment should be carried out to minimize dimensional and shape variations during tempering and tempering. Treatment should be done at the temperature of 600 ° C for at least 1 hour for every 25 mm. Cool slowly in the oven to 300 ° C and then calm air.
Temper: During heating to austenization, a pre-heating must be carried out to guarantee temperature uniformity and minimize distortions. Preheat to a temperature of 650 ° C Austenize to a temperature between 850 – 900 C. Heat for 1 hour for every 25 mm thickness and add an additional 1 hour for every 25 mm. Preferably fresh in oil, previously heated with stirring. Rapid cooling of nitrogen pressure, vacuum or air furnaces must be considered by the capacity of size, shape and equipment and must be considered by the execution of heat treatment.
Tempering: It should be done immediately after tempering when the temperature reaches about 70ºC The tempering temperature should be selected according to the specified hardness. To do this use the tempering curve for orientation below. Maintain the tempering temperature for at least 1 hour for every 25 mm thickness and use at least twice as much tempering. This steel can be tempered to the hardness of 35-43 HRC.

Nitriding: Steel can be nitrided to increase the wear resistance of surface hardening. In the case of Gnee steel 1.2714 nitriding may or may not lead to the formation of white coating. The maximum hardness after nitriding is in the range of 900 – 1000HV.
