The NBR 6591 Standard is very important and widely used in Brazil, since it specifies the characteristics and dimensions of two carbon steel tubes welded by the ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) process, known as welded tubes or seam tubes, circular, square, rectangular and special, for general industrial applications.
The standard specifies the dimensions, tolerances, mechanical tests (such as flattening and elongation) and other specific characteristics of this type of tube, as well as the inspection conditions that must be submitted.
The tubes of this standard are manufactured from three categories of steel:
Hot rolled;
cold rolled; and
Coated laminate.
As regards the surface finish, the steel tubes can be supplied in the following way:
No coating;
Galvanized by imersão a quente;
Pre-coated with metallized welding cord;
Pre-coated with a welded cord without metallization;
The chemical composition of the metal must meet the following specification:
Carbon (C): 0,23 percent max.;
Manganês (Mn): 1,00 percent max.;
Phosphorus (P): 0,04 percent max.; and
Enxofre (S): 0,05 percent max.
By previous agreement, aços con other compositions, can be provided.
