Tubes in accordance with this standard are characterized by well-defined tolerances in dimensions and a maximum surface roughness specified for applications in the most diverse sectors of the industry.

This standard replaced the old DIN 2395.

The ABNT NBR standard is equivalent to ABNT NBR 6591 or ABNT NBR 8261.
