What is the difference between 1.4310 and 1.4401 material?

Aug 24, 2025

What is 1.4310 material?

1.4310 is a European (EN) designation for a stainless steel, commonly known as AISI 301 or 302. It's an austenitic stainless steel known for its high strength, good corrosion resistance, and ability to be strengthened through cold working. This material is often used in applications requiring spring properties and is also suitable for welding.

What material is 1.4401?
1.4401 is a European standard designation for a type of austenitic stainless steel, commonly known as AISI 316. It's characterized by its high corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-containing environments, and is often referred to as "marine grade" stainless steel. This makes it suitable for applications in food processing, chemical and petrochemical industries, and coastal.

What is the difference between 1.4401 and 1.4301 stainless steel?
(SUS316) are quite similar. However, differences exist in corrosion resistance, cost, and workability. EN 1.4301 equiv., with 18% chromium and 8% nickel but lacking molybdenum, differs from EN 1.4401 equiv. (SUS316) in terms of corrosion resistance, cost, and workability.

Is 1.4401 the same as 316?

Stainless steel types 1.4401 and 1.4404 are also known as grades 316 and 316L respectively. Grade 316 is an austenitic grade second only to 304 in commercial importance. 316 stainless steel contains an addition of molybdenum that gives it improved corrosion resistance.

At GNEE, we ensure that all our stainless steel products are sourced from high-quality raw materials and manufactured in strict accordance with international standards. Our 1.4306 stainless steel products fully comply with numerous global certifications, including ASTM, JIS, and ISO.Mail:es@gescosteel.com

Common 1.4306 product forms include: stainless steel plate (thicknesses ranging from 0.3mm to 100mm, with custom widths available), stainless steel tube (outer diameters ranging from 1/8" to 48"), stainless steel bar (round, square, and hexagonal), and stainless steel strip (for precision cutting and coiling).
