What is 1.4301 material?
304/1.4301 is an austenitic stainless steel that belongs to the standard CrNi stainless steel family. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It is a versatile product with good corrosion resistance and is suitable for a variety of applications requiring good formability and weldability.

Is EN 1.4301 the same as 304 stainless steel?
Yes. EN 1.4301 is the European designation for 304 stainless steel. ASTM 304 is the American standard, and UNS S30400 is the Unified Numbering System designation. They are chemically and mechanically equivalent.

How corrosion-resistant is 304 compared to 316?
304 offers good general corrosion resistance in many environments, but 316 contains molybdenum, which improves resistance to chlorides and harsh chemicals. For environments with high salt or chloride content, 316 is recommended.
Can 304 stainless steel plate be welded easily?
Yes. 304 stainless steel has excellent weldability with all standard fusion and resistance welding methods. For applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance after welding, low-carbon variants like 304L (EN 1.4307) are preferred.
