What is ASTM A928 material?

ASTM A928 is a standard specification for electric-fusion-welded (EFW) ferritic/austenitic (duplex) stainless steel pipes, intended for high-temperature and highly corrosive service. It covers various grades, such as UNS S31803 and S32750, with added filler metal, making it suitable for industries like oil and gas, chemical processing, and petrochemicals.

ASTM A928 UNS S32750 EFW (Electric Fusion Welded) pipe is a super duplex stainless steel welded pipe specifically designed for extreme corrosive environments. It features a duplex microstructure with approximately 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum, and 0.3% nitrogen, combining high strength with excellent corrosion resistance. The material offers a minimum yield strength of 550 MPa, a minimum tensile strength of 795 MPa, and a hardness limit of 310 HBW or 32 HRC. It is widely used in seawater, desalination, and chemical processing environments.

 

Our 2507 stainless steel EFW pipes are manufactured using double-sided welding with filler metal. The use of filler metal helps better control the ferrite/austenite phase balance in the weld seam. Solution annealing is typically required; however, under certain conditions (such as when using pre-annealed base material), heat treatment may be exempted, provided that additional corrosion testing is performed.
