ASTM A249 TP321 SS is a weldable austenitic stainless steel tube designed for high-temperature applications such as heat exchangers, boilers, and superheaters. The "TP321" designation indicates its composition, which includes titanium as a stabilizing element. Compared to other stainless steel grades, this gives it greater resistance to intergranular corrosion and improves its high-temperature mechanical properties.

Due to the high chromium content in TP321 heat exchange tubes, they resist high-temperature corrosion and maintain good corrosion resistance. ASTM A249 304 type ERW tubes have a scale-free surface, achieved through bright annealing in a controlled atmosphere. Unless flaring and bending are required, ASME SA 249 TP 304 tubes used in the food industry are typically not heat-treated. ASTM A249 tubing ranges in wall thickness from ⅛ inches inside to 12 inches outside.
