What material is 420J2 coils?

420J2 coils are made from a type of martensitic stainless steel, known for its good hardness, strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, containing key elements like 12-14% chromium and 0.26-0.40% carbon, making it suitable for knives, surgical tools, and kitchen utensils. It's an affordable option in the stainless steel family, often used after heat treatment (hardening & tempering) to achieve high hardness (HRc 52-55).

Surface finishes include 2B, BA, No.1, and polished surfaces. What is the difference between 420J2 and 420 stainless steel?
