What are 347 and 347H stainless steel plates?
347 and 347H stainless steel plates are general-purpose austenitic stainless steels with a face-centered cubic crystal structure. They are non-magnetic in the annealed condition and can only be hardened by cold working. The addition of niobium (Nb) helps suppress the formation of chromium carbides at grain boundaries, improving intergranular corrosion resistance. 347H is the high-carbon version of 347, and due to its higher carbon content, it is tougher and generally more durable than standard 347 stainless steel plate.
Our ASTM A240 347H No.1 finish stainless steel plate is a high-carbon (H), niobium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel plate, known for its excellent high-temperature strength (creep resistance) and corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments, complying with ASTM A240 standards for use in pressure vessels and general applications. The No.1 surface finish indicates the plate has been hot-rolled, annealed, and descaled, making it suitable for high-temperature industrial applications such as petrochemical processing.
