Although 310 stainless steel bars are prone to stress corrosion cracking, their overall corrosion resistance is superior to that of 316 and 304 grades, and they exhibit seawater corrosion resistance comparable to 316 at temperatures ≤ 22 °C. 310S flat bars possess good oxidation resistance in sulfur‑free atmospheres and are widely used in the chemical industry; however, continuous use in the 425–860 °C range should be avoided to prevent carbide precipitation and resulting intergranular corrosion.
